This blog is brought to you by the Federation of State Physician Advocacy Groups (FSPAG). FSPAG has become very concerned that the dysfunctional culture and bureaucratic structure of Federation of State Physician Health Program (FSPHP) member organizations serves only to injure, disable and kill allegedly impaired physicians by driving them into isolation and despair through systematic defamation and humiliation. FSPAG is not affiliated in any way with the FSPHP or any other professional or licensing organization. See www.fspag.org for more details.
The primary goal of FSPAG is to help wounded physicians learn to heal ourselves and each other -- without interference by FSPHP member organizations. Part of this effort includes promoting individual physician health and well-being by providing a confidential forum for networking, community-building, discussion and exchange of ideas for self-protection and self-advocacy on behalf of physicians who may be potentially impaired by substance abuse, physical or mental illness, or disability of any kind. Part of this effort also includes sharing and discussing legal resources for protecting the civil rights of potentially impaired and disabled physicians.
Please feel free to contribute your ideas and experiences to this blog. You are not alone.

Could someone please contact me! I wish to start this Arizona as soon as possible. number 520-490-8977 or yarussojn@gmail.com
A new website has been created (www.azpag.org) for the new Arizona Physician Advocacy Group (AZPAG). This site has a direct link to the new AZPAG blog (azpag.blogspot.com). Please, read and post away! Thanks for your interest, yarussojn. I'll try calling you again tomorrow.
This advocacy website and group is designed to offer advice, resources and support to any physician or health care provider who is new to the MAP program, at risk for Arizona Medical Board investigations or proposed legal action. Know your rights and pick the battles. Most importantly your not alone in this. We can help you through the process, refer legal advice and reclaim your life and license. James N. Yarusso, M.D.

I am one of the two co-founders of "Staff of Asclepius", the Blog for our Physicians Advocacy Group. We have no specific State of reference.
Our site can be reached at: http://web.mac.com/staffofasclepius/iWeb/Site.
Our current issue of concern is the policy many Medical Specialty Boards have wherein they rescind Diplomate status of those physicians who are in monitored sustained full remission from addiction/alcoholism.
I encourage you to visit our site.

What happened?
I am a Board Certified Physcian, in Family medicine for 27 yrs. In March 2008, my sister died. It left me with depression and not getting out of bed. A fellow physcian stated""join PHP'' it is a spritual program. He called daily with reading from bible, and stated "'he would hire me, and in one year give me partnership. I went to see the PHP director of Arkansas. Next thing I knew, He odered a 4 hr polygraph test, which was negative for alcohol, drugs, and fraud. The company didnot run any other blood test.I was diagnosed with PTSD, due to childhood abuse, and trauma.Dr. Dinner then odered me to get monitored with alcohol, and drug testing. The daily admission of being alcoholic/addict, and cost of drug screens broke me emotionally, and financially. My physcian supervisor recommended by Dr. Dinner was a SEX ADDICT.I lost my job, and when I was not able to pay, I lost my medical license. I have been on MEDICAID now for 2 1/2 yrs.In Nov of 2011, I insited on the pramary care physcian doing TSH, it was 178.00.Now the same dr. states I need to get a mental evaluation, cost $9,800.00 which I do not have. What shoud I do ? Neema
those people are vampires. get away from them as fast as you can. since you have already lost your license you have nothing to lose and everything to gain. find a good therapist and psychiatrist(if you can on medicaid). make sure they are not robotic 12 steppers. if you continue with them they will only make you sickker. i know. thats what happened to me
Neema, I think you should file a complaint with the US Dept of Health and Human Services, Office for Civil Rights (OCR), for violation of your civil rights under the ADA (Americans with Disabilities Act). It's free, it's easy, and the more physicians that complain the more likely the federal government will force this horrible system to change.
MemphisPMSDoc, I think you should file a complaint too. Are you OK?
Neema, are you OK?
